How do you bleach your hair with Lemon Juice?

I am confused I know you use lemon juice and have heard some stories about how you lighten your hair and put it in your shampoo to keep from getting roots but how exactly do you do it?How do you bleach your hair with Lemon Juice?
You spray or pour lemon juice in your hair all over and lie in the sun for at least an hour. The acids in the lemon bleach your hair... be patient though and youll see results!!!How do you bleach your hair with Lemon Juice?
it lightens it but dont put it on ur scalp it burns

How long does lemon juice bleached hair last?

I want to try lightening my STRAIGHTENED hair with lemon juice, then dying it. (after the necessary two weeks).

How long does the lemon juice last, and how much damage does it do to the hair?

Will I be able to dye it a bright colour afterwards, without screwing up the colour? How long does lemon juice bleached hair last?
Yes, you can actually! I've even got the instructions for you right now!

Step1

Work the lemon juice into your hair. Make sure that you work the lemon juice evenly across the top of your hair, along your part areas, hair lines and crown areas.

Step2

Leave the lemon juice in your hair while you are out in the sun for about an hour. The lemon juice contains lots of acid, so you really don't want to expose your hair to both extreme sun and the acid in the lemon juice for long periods of time. Rinse the lemon juice out of your hair.

Step3

Repeat the process of applying the lemon juice in your hair and being in the sun as many times as necessary to notice a difference in the blonde color. The lemon juice should eventually give your blonde hair highlights and streaks of lighter natural looking color. This process may take several weeks to achieve a real difference in coloring.

**wow i didn't really think you could do this, but i guess i was wrong !! have fun! ***How long does lemon juice bleached hair last?

Help with naturally lightening my hair with tea/lemon juice?

I have chocolate brown hair, not dry/weak, so i dont need to worry at the moment.

im about to go sit outside with cammomile tea in my hair. How well will it work to lighten my hair? anyone have any ideas of what color?

and how well do you think Peroxide would work on my type of hair? i was about to do it, but then a million people told me how badd it is for your hair/scalp.

which would work better for me? the tea or the lemon juice?Help with naturally lightening my hair with tea/lemon juice?
no no no bad idea! one DO NOT use peroxide on your hair it will turn your hair either orange yellow or white...not the blonde your looking for...And the lemon juice works in lightening your hair but the acids in the lemon juice can really damage and fry out your hair...The best option would be to go to a store and buy a highlighting kit or if you want it all lighter get a lighter dye and dye it yourself, but if you arent experienced with dying your hair going lighter by yourself almost always ends in disgusting oranges...So I would go get it proffesionally lightened and that is the best way for your hair.

How long does it take to lighten extremely dark hair in the sun with lemon juice?

I have Blackish red hair, and I want to lighten it the most natural way I can.

So how long would lt take to Iighten it?How long does it take to lighten extremely dark hair in the sun with lemon juice?
You wouldn't see a significant difference unless you did it everyday for two hours for about two weeks. And even though it's a more ';natural'; way of lightening your hair, it will do a ton more damage, because it's liker bleaching your hair everyday. If you're wanting subtle highlights, then this is the way to go, but if you're wanting to go a full shade or two lighter, I'd suggest getting it done at a salon and lightening it chemically.

Good luck! How long does it take to lighten extremely dark hair in the sun with lemon juice?
lemon juice will not work, you need to go have it done by a hair stylist
Lemon juice will most likely not work with extremely dark hair. It will just turn it a nasty orange. =/

You could try to add some water with lemon juice, but I wouldn't risk it. You should get it done at a salon.
Well first of all lemon juice is far worse for you than bleach is, it is a straight acid. Where did you get the idea that natural was good? Horrible, deadly, damaging chemicals come from nature. The media has given you an image of natural meaning cotton and apples... well natural is also sulfur, methane, anthrax, etc. So knock it off. Second, lemon juice, any lightener in fact, does just that: lightens, they cannot tone. Hair has undertones to it; red under black, oranges underneath browns, and yellow underneath blonde. These are exposed when you lift. So no matter what you use to go lighter it is going to go straight to orange. And there is NO ';natural'; way to get rid of that orange, it has to be toned with an ash dye. Lemon juice cannot lift very high, about one level, and it will absolutely trash your hair; drying it out to the point where you will have to have it cut. Bleach just disperses molecules, but it has a conditioning agent in it to spare you that damage. So you cannot naturally go lighter unless you already have blonde hair (which will just pull light yellow), and you don't.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>I need to know more about lightening hair with lemon juice?
I do this with my hair. it is less harsh than the chemicals most people use.

I use lemon juice in a bottle rather than fresh lemons, but you can use both. I put it in my hair then go in the sun. rather than just sit in the sun, i wash my car or do some gardening. Time goes pretty fast that way if you are impatient. lol. I have dark brown/black hair, so it gives me red/auburn highlights. You do need the sun for it to work. It is the UV rays that work with the acid. A blow dryer won't work. After wash your hair with a good shampoo and conditioner. the lemon juice makes your hair stiff and dry. I never experienced sticky. Good luck!!
Yeah that's what you do :)

Make up a spray with a little water and some lemon juice and spray it evenly through your hair to avoid patchiness :)

Lightening hair with lemon juice?

I have light/medium brown hair. and i wanna lighten it with lemon juice. do i apply it when hair is wet, damp, or dry? also, how long should i leave it on, and what shade will it turn out to be?

thanks a lot for answering!=]Lightening hair with lemon juice?
Hi! I made a process to, yes, lighten your hair. I tested it on my self, I know it works. (only use on light brown or dark to light blond hair.)

All you need is:

2 bags of lemon tea. (Or any herbal tea that contains lemon grass lemon peel, lemon verbena (optional) and natural lemon flavor.I used BIGELOW I love Lemon Herb Tea.

Herbal (Natural or organic work too) shampoo

Any conditioner

45 min and a whole night. (as in sleeping for 6-8 hours.)

A shower that can produce very hot water

A plastic cup

A shower cap

All you do is:

Fill up the cup 3/4 full with the hot water from your shower.

Put the tea bag in. Wait 3-4 min. Shake the bag for faster results.

Put the tea on your hair after it is cool. Put your hair in a shower cap.

Wait 20-30 min.

Make another tea filled cup.

Rinse off your hair in the shower and put the other tea in your hair before you shampoo, rinse.

Shampoo and Condition. (See things you need)

Try it did it work for you? (Or say good things about it.)Lightening hair with lemon juice?
It will turn out a lighter shade of all them clolurs and 5 minutes you leeve it in

Im going to lighten my hair with lemon juice ?

so yes i am going to go and cut alemon in half and squeeze it in a bowl then use a old toothbush to put lemon jso i uice where i want my hair lightened. which is highlights. so i know how to put it on and everything. but the only problem is that there is no sun outside actually its very cold. and raining. and i have to do it today. so i was just wondering cani use a blow dryer instead of sun? and if yhes for how long? by theway my haircolor is dark brown.Im going to lighten my hair with lemon juice ?
use a blow dryer! yeah it Willl work but... it wil be very little changes, and you will have to do it several times.... takes wayyy to long if you ask me... but whatever you wanna do! hey by the way they make a really good product called sun-in that you can get at your local walmart, that will be cheaper (you'll need a lot of lemons!) and it is much easier to do and i think it works best with a blow dryer!! it's only $2.29 a bottle here... so maybe you should try it out!!!

here's a link so that you know what your lookin for:

P.S. I'm sure you can probably guess but it's in the hair-color aisle

http://www.sun-in.com/Im going to lighten my hair with lemon juice ?
Your hair will not lighten up without the sun. It usually only works on light brown to blonde hair anyways. Sorry hun, the lemon won't work, especially with a blow dryer, I hope you like the dark brown enough to leave it alone. Try an at home highlighting kit instead.

always worth a shot!
lemon juixe will noit do it unless u have natural blonde hair. trust me on that.
Omg you can do that??

i want to try it

=O
no dont do that to ur hair it might ruin it go to a hair store and get suggestions from a profeesinal if u want nice hairgo to sessies salon she rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lemon Juice will not dye your hair. You need to use a chemical lightener to get highlights.
I had rather you made lemonade its good in cold weather too specially if served warm.
DON'T use lemon on ur hair, i tried it before, it has acids that drys the hair, makes curls and it blocks the pores so it will not grow easily. You can boil Chamomile in some water and add some Curcuma ( Turmeric ) when it cools u canpour it on ur hair and just leave it to dry. U have to do it several times.

If u need products: try Sun In

Can i use lemon juice to lighten my hair?

I recently had blonde streaks in my brown hair so now my hair is kinda like a light brown with a tint of dark blonde. I've read that you can use lemon juice to lighten your hair. I want to know exactly how to do it.

I wont be going out in the sun has it is febuary and i live in UK! and ive heard it works without sun anyway.

I want to know how long to leave it on for + do i apply it on wet or dry hair etc..

How does lemon juice work in brunette hair?

I'm wanting to lighten my hair, where it looks nice, but doesn't look cheap. And I've heard that lemon juice does lighten the hair, but I'm not sure how it would look with my brunette hair. I have really dark hair.

Anyone out there that has tried this, and knows what will happen to my hair if I were to put lemon juice on it?How does lemon juice work in brunette hair?
I tried that yesterday with my friend. My hair is dark brown and people say its black but w/e. I was in the sun for about 45 minutes. I didnt really see a difference in my hair, I guess you'll have to continue doing it for a few days. I also noticed that it attracts bugs...ughh.How does lemon juice work in brunette hair?
Well I would say cranberry juice is much better for brunette hair. Although the highlights will not be blonde in color, they will be lightened, probably a natural reddish coloring.

My suggestion is to get you hair done in a GOOD french braid. Then spray or pour the cranberry juice on the top, sides and of course the braid. This should make the highlights very natural and pretty looking. You will of course need to be in the sunlight.

Another option is ';sun-in'; but in my opinion while it will lighten the hair it will give it that cheap look you want to avoid.
i have done it. i have dark hair also. If you put lemon in your hair it will smell good, and lighten your hair, but you have to go out into the sun to have it work. I recommend mixing it with a LITTLE water! also dont forget that the lemon isnt all that good for your hair so when you condition your hair leave your conditioner in for a little longer.
  • what does btw satnd for
  • I want to naturally lighten my hair, using lemon juice?

I've nearly got all the dye out of my hair and after 8 years of not seeing my natural colour (just some on the ends, gone with a couple more trims), its dark blonde/light brown now (my natural colour).

I would like to use lemon juice on it or some other natural product, as I want it to be lighter and don't want to ruin the condition its in. How would I go about applying it to my hair? In streaks? How much do I use? Do I need to dilute it?

Thanks in advance.I want to naturally lighten my hair, using lemon juice?
bad idea !!!!I want to naturally lighten my hair, using lemon juice?
Im pretty sure you just poor a little bit of lemon juice in your hair and sit in the sun for a while. It shouldn't wreck your hair at all. But i ha vent tried it. soaking your hair in champagne works as well!

    xx
I was told to use lemon juice and or vinegar...but if u want ur hair lighter just dye it....I mean it is what it is....u want light get light because the natural lighter wont lighten it but so much. Feel me!!!!
lemon juice wont really lighten it to much they say it will lighten it somewhat but its not a drastic change
i wouldnt do it. Where lemon juice will also make light brown hair yellowy/ orange. there isnt much you can do to without damaging it.Though at some salons they do have a color that will not damage it as much. It can only be used on virgin hair. Mostly they use it on young adults meaning as they never have colored there hair. I know you probably didnt want to hear about going to salon but i am not sure if they have a hair color out there like sallys that will carry that. and i agree with everyone who says it will dry your hair out.
it will dry your hair right out
Buy sun-in, works get. you just spray on wet hair, blow dry, or air dry and go in the sun. its really cheap too. you can basically get it anywhere.
If you wanted lemon juice it would have to be in a gel form and than unnaturally dreied and you would smell like a rotting lemon!
    bad bad bad!no good!

    Lemon Method

1.Get some good quality moisturizing shampoo and thoroughly wash your hair.

2.Condition your hair with a ';leave in'; moisturizing conditioner. The moisturizing shampoo and conditioner help off set the drying effect of the following steps, but are not absolutely necessary.

3.Put some lemon juice in your hair, being careful to either wipe it in with your fingertips or spritz with a spray bottle, to avoid wetting your scalp with the lemon juice.

4.Leave the lemon juice in your hair to dry for about half an hour, then go outdoors to get some bright sun on it. Stay out in the sun for 2-3 hours. The lemon juice makes your hair photosensitive (which causes the sun to lighten it).

5.Return to the indoors or shade, and leave the lemon juice in for another half hour. Do not exceed the half hour sun exposure on the first treatment with lemon juice, as the actual amount of lightening varies, depending on the color of your hair.

6.Wash your hair again, thoroughly rinsing out the any remaining lemon juice, then condition again as you usually would.

    7.Dry your hair and style.

8.Adjust the sunlight exposure after the first treatment if the effects are not sufficient. The amount of time you are exposing your hair to direct sunlight with the lemon juice in it will determine how much highlight it will cause. If you are satisfied with the amount of highlighting you get from this regimen, repeat every two to three weeks to maintain it.

    Chamomile Method

1.Try chamomile tea to highlight lighter shades of hair like blond or light brown hair. Brew a cup of very strong chamomile tea, spray on your hair, and spend some time in the sun.

i hope that helped a lil bit at least

I want to lighten my hair with lemon juice....?

How should I do it, and How long does it take to work. Here's the background info(in case you needed some to help me). Im 13 , I've never died my hair before, and my mom is more than willing to help, my hair is that dirty blonde/ ';dishwasher blonde'; color that they say is good for the lemon juice dying. Does anyone have a god website on How to do this/ or how long it will take for it to work, like do i have to water down the lemon juice or can i just use it strait? help, please!I want to lighten my hair with lemon juice....?
oh my god do NOT dye your hair with lemon juice.

every single person i know who has done it there hair has either

    1. looked great for one day, then the next day it turns orange

    2. gets super super SUPER bleach blonde

    or

    3. turns green

so i really wouldnt recommend doing this

i would just try to use a box dye if you want it lighter.

the best one i've used is the garnier fructis one

but seriously..don't use the lemon juice.

it's not smart!I want to lighten my hair with lemon juice....?
    dont do it.

it makes your hair so dry.

    i do not recommend it.

If i lighten my hair with lemon juice and sun, will it ever return to its natural color? how long?

yes it will but you have to wait for t to grow out, so it depends on how fast your hair growsIf i lighten my hair with lemon juice and sun, will it ever return to its natural color? how long?
babes, this is such a lame way to change your poor life around maybe just go hot pinkit'll suit you babess, so much if it suits me it deffy suit you! love ya babes

rock on till your hard (:If i lighten my hair with lemon juice and sun, will it ever return to its natural color? how long?
Mine didn't. but it subtly lightened, and i didn't use lemon juice.
Yeah but it'll have to grow out.
yes but it will have to grow out.
Lemon juice is horrible for your hair! It has a bleaching effect and no, your hair will never return to it's natural color unless you color it. You have dispersed the molecules in the hair shaft and that cannot be restored without dye.
Well actually I'm not positive how i works, but I do know two ways you can make it return to it's natural color

    1. Dye it back to its natural color

    2. Let it grow out, and it will eventually go back to it's color

    Lightening Hair with lemon juice?

I have dark african-american hair and im wondering if attempting to lighten my hair with lemon juice will work at all. Is it natural and safe? And if so, how do you do it exactly? Ha ha thanxx :)Lightening Hair with lemon juice?
Hey it does work but it is barely noticeable and the darker the hair the less noticeable it will be, I have naturally light brown hair and i tried it and seriously the results were only just visable when i turned my head to the light ..

If you still want to try it -%26gt; juice some lemons and apply the juice to the pieces of hair that you want lightened, then leave it over night and wash it out in the morning - simples :)Lightening Hair with lemon juice?
    just a quick thing::

lemon juice is VERY drying, so if you decide to do this....

1)get about a 1/4 (or more, depending on how much hair you have!) cup and soak your hair

2)go outside for a couple hours in the summer

3)take a relaxing shower and use a reparitve leave in conditioner.

but, if you have african american hair then it probably wont really do much... i have black hair (ya my picture is brown... oh well!) and i tried it and i just get a few light spots, but i dont have aftrican hair.. so ya,
Using lemon juice can have a slight effect, but really only if you already have fairly light hair already. It will not have any impact on dark hair. The best thing to use is Jolene cream bleach, which comes in original or sensitive.

You can also try hydrogen peroxide, it smells a little the first day, but it works in a couple of days, much faster than lemon juice. How to lighten your hair with lemon juice and how to lighten your arms hairs.?
Lemon juice doesn't bleach your hair. I repeat: Lemon juice doesn't bleach your hair. What it does, instead, is strip it of all of the 'garbage' (for lack of a better word) that is stuck to it. For example, conditioner and shampoo leave build-up and the lemon juice just breaks that all down. As a result, your hair just looks lighter. And if you don't have blond hair to begin with, it won't be very noticeable.

If you want to lighten your arm hair, I would try a cream bleach. There are many products out there - just make sure you read labels because some of them are body part specific. Good luck. How to lighten your hair with lemon juice and how to lighten your arms hairs.?
I've used lemon juice to soften my hair and give it shine. It never really lightened it. As for the arms, try a bleaching cream (you can get it anywhere like Walgreens, Wal-Mart, etc and it's less than $10!). I used the bleach for facial hair on my arms and it worked. Sally Hansen has good stuff! Good luck! :)
Lemon juice will mainly emphasize your natural hilights. Just put it in a spray bottle to make it easier. You can also mix a little Sun-in, too. But then you wouldn't have the nice treat of a spray of lemon juice in the mouth.

ive heard thst lemon juice can make ur hair lighter and i want to try this. i have afew questions abuot it tho.

To everyone using that ';sun in'; stuff.

I don't know about it. I used it once, and it's not good. My natural golden blonde hair turned orange. I felt like a pumpkin.

Lemon juice CAN dry your hair.

    But it still works.

    For best results...

    1) Put lemon juice in a spray bottle

1/2 lemon juice 1/2 water. (the water helps the hair so the acid in the lemon isn't so harsh on your hair)

    2) Spray evenly on hair, so you don't get random lighter spots.

    3) Sit/sun bathe in the sun for an hour or two.

You can also just spray it and leave it, but make sure you wash and condition it well at the end of the day.

    4) When done, wash out your hair well. Condition it too, and let it sit in your hair for about 2-3 minutes. Rinse well.

    5) DO NOT blow dry. If there is any acid from the lemon left, the constant heat of the blow dryer WILL dry it out.

    It works, i love it.

The end :)Lemon juice lightening your hair?
i think its mainly for blonde hair but you put the lemon in your hair and go out in the sun. the sun is suppose to highlight the hair to give it a natural look. hope it works.
It dose work but you have to be out in the sun in order to do so. It won't work otherwise. So you put it in your hair and then sit in the sun and after a while you will have lighter hair, works best if your hair is already pretty light. My hair is blonde and I tried it once. Don't know about other colors
Please visit a professional salon for this process. That sounds creepy. Good luck
yh i heard it works but it really dries ur hair and its only temparary

    xx
Yes it works, however if you're brunette you can get some orange tones. My hair is dirty blonde with some brunette. This is what I do to ensure that doesn't happen. White vinegar is something wonderful as well, as it not only lightens but brightens and makes it shiny.

I take a spray bottle and fill it half way with white vinegar and and one quarter way with water. Shake it up. Re-open and add some lemon juice. I just use the store kind, works fine, about one eighth of the bottle. Shake up. I spray dry hair until completely saturated. Then I put one of those cheap hair caps on my head and leave it there for about a half hour. When time is up, I goto the shower and rinse. I don't shampoo yet, I usually try to wait at least 12 hours. When I do shampoo I rub a tablespoon of olive oil in dry hair first and let it sit for about 10 minutes before getting in the shower and shampooing. I don't condition, the olive oil does a good job. The olive oil will leave your hair soft after having put so much acid in it with the lemon juice. I also spray my hair with a 50/50 mix of hydrogen peroxide and water to keep it light every morning when I get out of the shower before styling. Easy stuff that is natural and works really well for me.
Based on your avator I would say you have brown hair so I am going to answer you question assuming you do have brown hair.

Lemon juice will only lighten your hair a very small small degree and that is only if you already have blonde hair. If you have brown hair you won't even notice any difference.

Lemon juice is very acidic and very drying to the hair so you will end up with dry damaged hair. If you want lighter hair get some professional highlights....you will be much happier and your hair will be healthier!
don't try it, go to to a salon and get it done properly.

I used sun-in a few years ago and it REALLY damaged my hair.
omg i acttually heard of that and i really would like to know about that too sooo as soon as u get the info pleasse e- mail me i would really appreciate it ..............; ]]]]]

    THANKS,

It all depends on the color of your hair. It works great on blondes. Also lighter red heads and light brunettes. It doesn't work too well on dark brown or black hair. The most it will do on dark brown hair will add a red shine to it. But if you're fair haired you could do it, there's also a product called Sun In, my cousin is a natural medium blonde and she used that on her hair and they became a light blonde. If you buy Sun In follow the directions on the package, I think you put it in dry hair and the you blow dry it. Directions for lemons : First you fill up a spray bottle with lemon juice, fresh squeezed works best. Then spray entirety of hair, be generous. After that you have to sit in the sun, make sure it's a day when the sun is really strong which the best time of day to do so is around 12 pm. The longer you sit, the lighter they will get. The more times you do this, the lighter they will be. As this is a great way to lighten hair, lemons can only do so much.

By the way, if you spray it on evenly, you won't get patches and it's natural so it won't damage your hair. I'm not sure how healthy the Sun In is for hair though...
Lemon juice works well for lightening or highlighting already various shades of natural blonde hair.

Just squeeze fresh lemon juice onto your hair and sit in the sun.

I've found, that blow drying it simply does not work. Only the sun does.

How to lighten hair with LEMON?

    Hey,

I am off to Australia in 3 weeks %26amp; I want to lighten my hair a bit with lemon juice.

I am just wondering how to do it? As in how much water and lemon juice do I need to use?

etc... I hope you get what I mean.

Thanks in advance. How to lighten hair with LEMON?
i never knew this so cool. How to lighten hair with LEMON?
To die your hair with lemon juice, make sure to not put A LOT of lemon juice, because you will burn your hair and make it go white!

I suggest that if you put a teaspoon of lemon juice, put 4 teaspoon of water, or something like that!

Don't keep it for a really long time on your hair or, as I said, you will burn it ;).

    Good luck with that! :)
You will need real lemon juice for this task not the stuff that you use to sweeten or preserve a fruit salad. If you can't find any then just use lemons. Extract the juice in which ever way suits you best. You could use a juicer or cut it into slices and squeeze the juice out.

    Step

    2

Apply the lemon juice to all or part of your hair. For highlights choose small portions and coat in the juice. For the whole head dose liberally.

    Step

    3

Put sunscreen on because you're headed outside next and this may take a couple of hours to prefect the look you want.

    Step

    4

Come back inside every 20 minutes and rinse your hair to check results. You may want to blow dry a piece as hair always appears darker when wet. Not the look you want? Reapply the juice and step out for a while longer.
You can use clearasil spot cream to lighten your hair too, it's probably easier because its cream and not completely liquid and gives a nice effect. It sounds weird but it works :)
my sister did it in st lucia and she just but mostly lemon juice with a tiny drop of water and it worked

does lemon juice really lighten hair?

i want to try it how much should i use

i just want to lighten my hair a little bit i am already a dark blonde with some light blond streaks how can i lighten up the dark blonde streaks in my hair.Lemon juice lightens hair?
Yes, lemon juice does lighten hair.

Just cover your hair with it in the spots or section you want then sit out in the sun on a warm sunny day and it should lighten it a couple of shades.

Just sit out in the sun until it is the desired color.Lemon juice lightens hair?
It doesn't really work, even if you go out in the sun alot. Just dye your hair. Try sun-in.
Yes it slightly does. So does chamomile tea. But they work only if you apply then blow dry or sun dry. You should mix some with a little olive oil and put it in a spray bottle. Then spritz and dry.

Also Sun -In has a stronger effect and is used the same way.

And your hair will get blonder if it is in chlorinated pool water alot too.
I think it only works when you're in the sun.
i have medium/light brunette hair and i used it to get some blonde highlights and it doesnt work that well, no matter how much you use. i recomend sun-in. it works alot better and the ingrediants are all natural
Yup it does but you have to dry it with a hair dryer and then dont wash your hair til the next day...
    Really?
Just put it in a spray bottle and apply to the parts you want lightend. My mom did it for years. It works faster when sitting in the sun. Peroxide works too, but tends to give a red hue...
lemon juice only works temporarly so...

    Steps:

    1. Put lemon juice in a bowl (lots)

    2. get darker hair, tie it so its seperated (in a pony or elastic)

    3. dip in bowl keep in bowl for about 3-6 mins
    yeah it does out in on the section you want to be lightend and set in the sun or sunny area and it should lighten it up or you can just dye your hair or get highlights or somthing :-}
Ive used it before. You want to use however much you need for your hair. Just put it into a spray bottle and then go sit in the sun for like 20 minutes. It will lighten your hair, but not make you a blonde.
i don't know about lemon juice, but if you go out in the really strong sun a lot for a long time, your hair will lighten for sure, and it lasts. i did that over the summer, and my hair is still a couple shades lighter than it was b4.
yeah , lol, actually the spartans used it to lighten theire hair and make it a bit harder. It works better in the sun though

How do you lightening your hair with lemon juice?

i wanted to do like highlights but i wanted to do like one strand w.e day i was doing it and i wet it and put the lemon juice in and went outside and nothing happened.. is it supose to lighten over a longer period of time? How do you lightening your hair with lemon juice?
I tried this once and it didn't work too well, and then i smelt like lemons for about a week, but it doesn't matter :)

If you want to try, you're supposed to just squeeze some onto your dry hair and sit out in the sun for a few hours? Then just wash it out as you would normally :) x

If I wanted to lighten my hair with lemon juice how would I do it??

Would I use it on wet or dry hair or does it not matter??

Do I mix it with water??

Do I wash it out after a few min or leave it in until the next time I wash my hair??If I wanted to lighten my hair with lemon juice how would I do it??
you have to use it on dry hair and you have to apply it evenly everywhere . Though you gotta be outside for like 30 minutes or so . After wards you have to use a lot of conditioner or your hair will look like straw . You can also try this rinse it's a lot easier and won't damage your hair :

    http://www.associatedcontent.com/article鈥?/a>

or you can buy this Jason Shampoo that has lemons, chamomile ,sunflowers a bunch of stuff and it adds highlights and makes your hair blonder . I use the one for brunettes and it works great and makes your hair smell really good .

    http://www.americasnutrition.com/bloncol鈥?/a>

you can probably buy it at walgreens . BTW don't use sun-in or hydrogen peroxide you could end up with ugly orange hair . I would suggest you do the chamomile rinse that is the least damaing and it's not that hard to make and if you can't find chamomile flowers then use chommail teaIf I wanted to lighten my hair with lemon juice how would I do it??
    Straight lemon juice.

Apply it directly to your hair.

Then, you either go out in the sun and allow it to lighten that way. This will take a few hours out in the sun.

The other way is to blow dry your hair for a while. The heat from the blow dryer will give the same effect as the heat from the sun.
spray lemon juice in your hair and then sit out in the sun of a few hours or under a heat lamp. after a few goes it should begin to get lighter. i would use it on dry hair and wash it out after you are done laying in the sun
OMG don't ever do it. 1 it damages your hair and two it makes it go patchy. Have you tried Sun-In available from boots/superdrug? That works well. Or, I don't know if they still do it but a couple of years back I bought a gel from John Frieda that had lemon in it and you would go out in the sun and it would naturally lighten your hair whilst drying it. That was really good. Hope this helps =)

Will lemon juice lighten my hair.?

I have brown hair with blonde highlights, and I was wondering if it would lighten my hair dramatically, and it actually look good, and not end up looking orange. If so how long would I have to stay out in the sun for? Thanks. Will lemon juice lighten my hair.?
Yeah! But I wouldn't recommend it. It has ';drying'; properties that could dry your hair out too much, making it brittle and thus prone to split-endsWill lemon juice lighten my hair.?
it ill make your hair shine :)

its good for the colour of your hair hun xx

and i dont think it would go orange in the sun :S

    never happened to me :)

    x
The best way to lighten hair naturally is to use chamomile.

You can buy Chamomile shampoos and conditioners at many mexican stores

Or just use a chamomile tea rinse
It can produce an uneven effect. Try a henna shampoo instead. These lighten your hair gradually with each wash and you can get different kinds for dark/fair hair. There is also a blue shampoo you can buy which revives highlights by removing that bronzing that occurs after time.
well its good for washing stuff (like hair gels, mousse, etc.) out of your hair when it builds up..... but lemon juice wont lighten your hair
its gonna end up looking orange that what i did.... go to the beach and go in the water then let your hair dry out in the sun its works really good. or you can use a hair lightning spray they sell it at publix n walmart it works veryyyy good. good luck%26lt;3
i've found that vodka lightens your hair way better than lemon juice.
yes if you stay out in the sun

Lighten my hair with lemon juice?

Does it really work?Do I have to sit in the sun or can I just blow dry it instead, because it is very cloudy oyt today.Plus, how long do I have to keep it in for?Lighten my hair with lemon juice?
Yes it does work. And it really woks best in the sun. I sit in the sun for about an hour or so but the longer the better. Also be sure you wash it out good cuz the acid can be damaging to your hair.Lighten my hair with lemon juice?
Does seem like it would be worth it. I used a little bit of lemon juice in some henna I put on my hair, and the lemon juice fried my hair.
it works pretty well if you're blonde,

what i do is i sqeeze it on, then go ait in the sun for a while (about 1-2 hours) then wash it out with conditioner. Feel free to vary this though, try it out!

ooh, just remembered something else, there are lemon juice shampoos and conditioners that I have tried before that work pretty well and smell amasing!!!

What is a good method of lightening your hair with lemon juice?

yeahhh i want to lighten my hair a bit and i want to use a way that is natural... is lemon juce really bad for your hair? how much should i use for how long to get a noticable difference? What is a good method of lightening your hair with lemon juice?
Lemon juice is probably the most well known lightener that is both natural and effective, but the acid in lemon juice (if used undiluted or too frequently) can be drying. Another downside to lemon juice is that you have to use it a few times to get noticeable results.

Here's a lemon recipe for hair lightening:

    Lemon Juice Lightener

    1 part lemon juice

    4 parts distilled water

Mix together and rinse your hair with it you shampoo and condition. If you want, you can do the final rinse several times - all you have to do is catch the lemon juice rinse off with a basin. Towel-dry your hair, and you're done. Going out in the sun afterward helps the process along.

If I were you, I'd consider using something less harsh like the options below:

    - Steeping certain herbs and rinsing your hair with them can also lighten your natural color and enhance highlights. Just about any yellow-blossomed flower or herb can be used on blond hair, including calendula (pot marigold), mullein blooms and leaves, yellow broom flowers, saffron, turmeric, and quassia chips.

    - Honey really works well too. It conditions your hair and releases a mild amount of hydrogen peroxide when diluted to lighten your hair without damaging it.

    - Rhubarb root gives a honey-colored hue to blond and light-brown hair.

If those ingredients sound more appealing to you, try one of these recipes:

    Dilute Honey Lightener

    1 part honey

2 Parts conditioner (V05 SKR reportedly works well)

Mix the honey and conditioner and apply to hair. Wrap head with saran wrap and a warm hat. Let sit for 8 hours and rinse.

    Natural Blonde Dye

2 whole uncut fresh lemons (squeezed %26amp; strained for juice)

2/3 ounces or 20 grams of marigold flowers (you can buy at health food store)

2/3 ounces or 20 grams of chamomile flowers (buy at health food store)

1 - 1 录 ounces or 30 grams of finely chopped or powdered rhubarb root (grocery store or heath food store)

2 ounces or 50 grams of acacia honey (health food store)

1 pint or 陆 liter cider vinegar

2 ounces or 50 grams of 95% proof alcohol (liquor store).

Put the vinegar and rhubarb into a stainless steel saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer very gently for 10 minutes. Be sure to make it exactly 10 minutes. Less or more may cause problems. Add the chamomile and marigold flowers and juice of the two lemons. Cover the pan and simmer for another 5 minutes. Remove completely from the heat. Let the mixture stand covered with the lid until the liquid is tepid. Filter the concoction through a fine sieve into a bottle. Make sure you squeeze out any liquid in the herbs left in the sieve. Remember to be careful since the liquid may still be warm or even a tiny bit hot. Add the honey, alcohol and squeezed and strained lemon juice from the 2 lemons. Put a tight cap on the bottle and store for your next shampoo.

Apply the mixture directly to your hair and leave on for at least 30 minutes. Be sure to cover your head with a shower cap or the drippage can stain. If you'd like it to drip less, add some conditioner or deep conditioner to the mix for a thicker consistency.

    Chamomile Tea Rinse

Chamomile is probably the most popular herbal hair colorant among blonds. A weekly rinse with this herb tea will also remedy the brown streaking that results from overexposure to the sun, and brighten ';dishwater blond'; hair.

    陆 C chamomile flowers

    1 quart boiling water

To prepare a chamomile rinse, steep half a cup of the flowers in a quart of boiling water for half an hour. Then strain the mixture, and let it cool while you shampoo. Now, pour the brew through your towel-dried hair at least 15 times (catching it in a basin each time, in order to use it again). Wring the excess moisture out and leave the solution in your hair for a half an hour before rinsing it out with clear water.

Good Luck :DWhat is a good method of lightening your hair with lemon juice?
Don't do that. I tried it and it doen't work.

Try Sun-In. It's natural with lemon juice, it's in-expensive, and it works great! Just spray the parts you want color lightly.

It does dry out your hair though like lemon juice does. Just deep condition if you do use it.

    Just get it at Walmart.

Using lemon juice to lighten my hair...?

I am going to try to lighten my already blonde hair soon but I need some info before I do this whole lemon juice process.

    - Can I blow dry my hair after I apply the lemon juice? Will I get the same results? (It's cloudy in my town)

    - How long do I wait before I wash my hair again?

    - Do I use pure lemon juice (or do I mix it with something, etc.)?

thanks :)Using lemon juice to lighten my hair...?
try using lemon juice mixed WITH conditioner so it doesnt dry out your hair. i was never allowed to dye my hair i tried everything!

u know whats best without using hair dye? Sun-In - its a spray you put in your hair and go in the sun. but my hair is realy dark so what i did was spray it in strands of my hair, used a hair straightener over it a few times and BAM! my hair was highlighted to a brown/blonde color. the lighter u want it, just spray more and go over it with a hot striaghtener. it works wonders!

hope that helped! and Sun-In u can buy at any store like rite-aid, cvs, walgreens. it has no dyes in it. faster than lemon juice alone. its pretty cheap to i think i got mine for $5.99 a bottle.Using lemon juice to lighten my hair...?
Get some good quality moisturizing shampoo and thoroughly wash your hair.

Condition your hair with a ';leave in'; moisturizing conditioner. The moisturizing shampoo and conditioner help off set the drying effect of the following steps, but are not absolutely necessary.

Put some lemon juice in your hair, being careful to either wipe it in with your fingertips or spritz with a spray bottle, to avoid wetting your scalp with the lemon juice.

Leave the lemon juice in your hair to dry for about an hour, then go outdoors to get some bright sun on it. Stay out in the sun for half an hour. The lemon juice makes your hair photosensitive (which causes the sun to lighten it).

Return to the indoors or shade, and leave the lemon juice in for another half hour. Do not exceed the half hour sun exposure on the first treatment with lemon juice, as the actual amount of lightening varies, depending on the color of your hair.

Wash your hair again, thoroughly rinsing out the any remaining lemon juice, then condition again as you usually would.

    Dry your hair and style.

Adjust the sunlight exposure after the first treatment if the effects are not sufficient. The amount of time you are exposing your hair to direct sunlight with the lemon juice in it will determine how much highlight it will cause. If you are satisfied with the amount of highlighting you get from this regimen, repeat every two to three weeks to maintain it.
You have to go out in sunlight for lemon juice to lighten your hair. If you want to lighten your hair with a blow dryer, try Sun-In. You need to wash the lemon juice out after you're done being in the sun. Use pure lemon juice, or mix it with a little water. You have to go out in full sun for it to even be noticeable. Fresh lemon juice works the best.
Lemon juice needs the summer sun to get the best bleaching effect (the winter sun is too weak). Using a hair dryer also works but it takes longer in my experience. Lemon juice always took a long time to lighten my hair but it eventually does with repeated application. I comb it through thoroughly and I don't mix it with anything. I sit in the sun for as long as I can - even after it dries and then I wet it again with lemon juice if I want it lighter and sit in the sun again. I sit there for about 15-60 minutes after it dries. Then I rinse it out with shampoo and condition it. It usually take a few days of doing this to get it lighter.

Regular peroxide does not need the sun and works quicker for me. You can use the regular stuff you get from the drug store. Depending on how sensitive your scalp is - apply it generously. Then blow dry it out. Wet with peroxide again and reapply as you wish. Try it for a few days in a row because OTC peroxide is stronger than lemon juice but is still mild.

Your roots will lighten quicker than the rest of your hair (because it has not keratinized yet and it still new) so be careful and concentrate on the mid-shaft and ends more with the heat.

Does lemon juice actually work to lighten hair?

my hair has never been dyed only permed once and its black with brown highlights

ive never dyed it and i want to lighten it if i put lemonjuice in it what will happen?

how long do i keep it in?

    how do i mix it?

help!Does lemon juice actually work to lighten hair?
Work the lemon juice into your hair. Make sure that you work the lemon juice evenly across the top of your hair, along your part areas, hair lines and crown areas.

Leave the lemon juice in your hair while you are out in the sun for about an hour. The lemon juice contains lots of acid, so you really don't want to expose your hair to both extreme sun and the acid in the lemon juice for long periods of time. Rinse the lemon juice out of your hair.

Repeat the process of applying the lemon juice in your hair and being in the sun as many times as necessary to notice a difference in the blonde color. The lemon juice should eventually give your hair highlights and streaks of lighter natural looking color. This process may take several weeks to achieve a real difference in coloring.

Keep your hair well conditioned after using the lemon juice on your hair and rinsing out to help with dryness.

Do not use the lemon juice on hair that is chemically colored or hair that has been exposed or over exposed to chlorine as this may result in extreme hair colors and damage to your hair.Does lemon juice actually work to lighten hair?
Yes it does me and my sisters do it all of the time but if you have black hair it will turn more copper than brown but it will lighten it all you do is put the lemon juice in a spray bottle and spray you hair with it and go out in the sun either tanning or just doing stuff you can wash it out at the end of the day or whenever.

Add on: Peroxide does work too but it really stinks its easier just to use lemon juice and go about your normal day...the others are right about sun in to the stuff works great too besides lemon juice and peroxide that was the first thing I used in my hair to change color and it was awesome...oh yeah condition well after you wash it out.
Lemon juice is just an acid that strips the protective cuticle layer off the hair shaft making it a bit lighter if you use it often and go out in the sun. Sun-In is just a chemical version of this. Both make your hair unruly and I wouldn't do it too often.

It might sound harsher, but I would still go with a packet permanent colour coz at least that is made for hair.

You could always try putting in a few extensions. They do no damage to your own hair and you can see the colour before you put it in. I love Magdalena Hair Extensions from http://www.magdalenahairextensions.com.a鈥?/a>
All you have to do is put regular lemon juice in your hair like you would get at the store in a bottle and then stay out in the sun for like 20 minutes and your hair will get lighter. My hair gets lighter if I just go in the sun without lemon juice too. They also sell stuff in a bottle that works great too you can get it at Target. Oh and both things work great.
put it on your wet hair and go lay in the sun (or do something in the sun) , it will lighten your hair, but not very much at all, in fact you may have to do it for a couple of weeks before you even notice. I will also bring out reddish highlights in your hair. So if you want to be blond, don't use lemon juice.
Only use the juice, then go out into the sun and it will help to give you a lighter hair colour, so if you want streaks, apply it that way, if you have any red in you hair at all, sometimes the streaks can come out more reddish or sometimes more like an orange type colour, so just try it on a small part of your hair first just in case, hope this helps, goodluck! :)
you know lemojn juice in a bottle??

(you use it on fish %26amp; stuff..?)

use that, about half a cupful

    leave it in 10-20 min

it will probably lighten the brown highlights

    not dramatically though.

try sitting in the sun while the lemon juice is in your hair

    good luck =)
    okay i did this once:)

but if you have black like your avatar it could just make it gray...

    anways.

you just pour 100% lemon juice into your hand and apply into damp hair and go sit in the sun for a while, or or or you coul use a blowdrierr.

    goodluck.

    OR you could use sunin!
i got my hair done and i asked my hair dresser about this and she said that people think it works because of the citric acid in the lemons but with dark hair it will be quicker and MUCH easier just to go by sum hair die or go and get it professionally done :)

    good luck

    HOLD YOUR HORSES!

That lemon juice thing only works for people with light brown, dirty blonde, or blonde hair!! If you have dark hair, it'll turn ORANGE or red. lol

So umm unless you want that color, don't do it.
Lemon juice or beer can be put directly onto hair and then you sit in direct sunlight. It really dries out your hair though and in my experience, doesn't look all that great!
THERE'S SOME STUFF CALLED SUN IN.

SOLD AT UR LOCAL WALMART AND OTHER PLACES.

    NATURALLY LIGHTENS HAIR.

    IDK ABOUT LEMON JUICE.
I've got brown hair and I tried it when I was about 8 years old, didn't make a difference.

It only works on natural blondes..
yea its true you can but take a shower after
It works by making you think you have lighter hair. ZOMG lol
i lemon juice my hair but im blonde.... urs may turn an orangey tint bc its so dark

ok so I have this big bottle of 100% lemon juice.

I want to lighten my hair with it..

I have no idea how to though...and i dont wanna ruin my hair.

Do you just like dump it all over your hair and sit or what?

Put it in a spray bottle and then spray it all over your hair.

    then comb your hair back.

go lay in the sun for about 30mins to 1 hour.

and your hair will be lighter! :)
mix it with equal parts water in a spray bottle and spray it evenly on your hair, then go out in the sun (a hair dryer kind of works, but it'll damage your hair even more - sun is the best) Don't do this too often because the acid in the juice dries out your hair.

    Good luck!
put on your brush- comb it through, and do that again. go out into the sun.. dont do this too often though--- the acid is terrible for your hair. Also- be careful if your not blonde. I've heard crazy stories about orange hair after lemon juice but it always works nicely on blondes
it usually works better in the summer, b/c of the hot, sunny weather, but you could still try it...just get a spray bottle, put the lemon juice in it, spray an even layer all over your hair, and sit outside in the sun for a while...hope that helps!

I have heard/read a lot about using lemon juice to lighten blonde hair. I am thinking about trying it out. But, I'm not sure how much lemon juice, how often I should do it and the such. Do I need to mix it with part water before applying to my hair? If you have any information for me I would be grateful.Using lemon juice to lighten blonde hair...?
It is gradual so don't worry about how much.

Never use sun in on your hair, that is the worst thing you can do.

Put some lemon juice in a bottle ans some water and mist your hair and go out in the sun for an hour. You may see a slight change you may not, do it until you like the color. Moisturize your hair after each application.

I own a salon and I will not color hair that has had sun inUsing lemon juice to lighten blonde hair...?
    hi !!!!!!!! okay:

lemon juice- wet your hair before you use it and if you want even streaks put about a quarter amount into your hair and use a comb to comb through.

If you want to get blonde quicker, you can dump more on- lemon juice doesn't damage or hurt your hair, it'll make it feel a little more course- but nothing conditioner won't fix

    OR!!

you can use sun in! thats a product sold at pretty much any drugstore/chainstore (walmart walgreens rite aid cvs) and use the yellow bottle. it sprays into your hair and lightens your hair amazingly! its all natural, no chemicals just plant juices...

if you have any questions or w/e you can email me!!!

    good luck!
no this actually makes hair horrible. try putting peroxide(no wter) and put it in a spray bottle and spray it on your hair. peroxide is what lightens your hair without dyen it and damaging your hair. try it. i bet you everyting it works. you should spray it on dry hair until hair is completely wet with peroxide and stay in the sun if you can to get more lightening results.
i tried it when i was a ablonde. honestly it works if you sit in the sun. you have to soak all your hair in lemon juice. well, i did. and i only saw results when it was soaked. besides the fact that i sat outside for like 4 hours. so if you do it, i suggest you do it, then lay out at the beach :]
don't do the lemon juice it really doesnt work and don't use sun in unless you are blonde..i'm a brunette and used sun in and it turned my hair orange...try buying boxed hightlites and only add a few it makes the look more natural and its not too expensive.
use a tablespoon diluted in 2 cups of water. you can also use white or green tea. i'm a brunette and i use black tea to help keep my hair dark and rich, which really helps. brew two or three cups of tea and soak your hair in it.
    okay

well my friends and I tried the lemon juice thing out

    and its really not good

it makes your hair all crunchy and super super dry and tangly

i think you should buy sun in its a hairspray that lightens your hair without ruining it:P
My friend and I used lemon juice to lighten our hair and we actually just cut up whole lemons and squeezed the juice into our hair. I wouldn't recommend it though. It does almost as much damage to your hair as bleaching/coloring does.

Does lemon juice + sun helps to lighten your hair?

I want to lighten the hair on my hands. For how long should I hang out in the sun with the lemon juice?

Can we use lime?Does lemon juice + sun helps to lighten your hair?
Yes it works pretty well. What works even better is this stuff called ';Sun-In';.

    http://www.sun-in.com/

I used to have a friend who used it and it worked great, not as good as bleaching of course, but it does pretty well. You have to follow the directions though, get your hair really wet with the product and then sit in the sun, or sometimes we used to use a blowdryer on my friend's hair and it seemed to work almost as well.Does lemon juice + sun helps to lighten your hair?
To lighten the hair on your hands, I would buy a hair lightening kit-- the Sally Hansen kind are less than 5 bucks at Walmart (in the make-up section). It only takes eight minutes to lighten hair, and you can use it just about anywhere-- arms, legs, face

(NOT near your eyes or hoo-haa, or the hair on your head, though!)

It's much quicker than sitting for 40 hours in the sun roasting your skin, and the hair stays light for at least a few weeks... and there will still be plenty of mix leftover to do it again!

    Good luck!
Lemon juice works, but not very well. I would suggest Sun-In

    http://www.sun-in.com/buy.asp

All you do is spray it in your hair before going out in the sun and it lightens your hair. My friend uses it over the summer. It works really well and it's cheap. You can find it at any local drug store or wal-mart. Good Luck!!%26lt;33
Yo want to be n the sun for quite some time, about 2 hours or more, depending on how light you want your hair to be. I haven't tried lime before, but because they're both citruses, it might work.
uhmm what color is your hair...because if it is brown it will make your hair look orange...atleast thats what i have heard...and if not....you should prolly stay in the sun for a day then take a shower and then repeat that until it is light enough...

I've heard you can lighten your hair with lemon juice...?

So i read that if you soak your hair in lemon juice and go out in the sun it will lighten, is this true?

    And how much lighter?

Would it take me from light brown to blonde?

I used to be blonde as a kid (im 16 now)but it turned into a brown over the years and now i have to dye it to keep it blonde and i dont want to keep dying it cause i know its ruining my hair.

Do you think if i let the blonde dye grow out by summer and tried this would it take me to blonde naturally (sort of lol)?I've heard you can lighten your hair with lemon juice...?
I Do that to my hair.

It gets lighter depending on how long you stay out in the sun and how much juice you put on.

It'll work, but If you want quicker results you can also use Hydrogen Peroxide to turn your hair lighter, ( I find that it works better than lemon juice) And you don't have to go out in the sun if you use Peroxide.I've heard you can lighten your hair with lemon juice...?
it should work. It turned my hair from dirty blonde to light blonde.
I think it might get your hair frm light brwn to dirty blond if you do this daily! My aunt said it wrks!
i did the lemon juice thing last summer, but i only put it in like highlights and not very often. my hair did get a little lighter, but since i didn't put in very much or do it very often, it probably will gradually get a lot lighter.

althoug it is very damaging to your hair.. i use it and i love it!Lighten hair with lemon juice help! QUICKLY!!! PLEASE ANSWER LIGHTENING SHAMPOO?
lemon juice will not effect your hair enough to turn it platinum blonde, believe me, I do it every summer it only gets a slightly lighter shade of the original color, most the time, you can't tell the difference unless you're looking for it. I recommend just dying your hair, and I don't recommend the sheer blonde shampoo, it dried out my scalp and smucked up my hair, but it could possibly effect you differently.

Should i lighten my hair with lemon juice?

    http://s245.photobucket.com/albums/gg80/photoyesse/?action=view%26amp;current=2995_77883241929_579821929_2157464_.jpg

heres a picture of me. i want to lighten my hair with lemon juice because i know that by using JUST lemon juice my parents would allow. They dont want me to dye my hair and put highlights in. but this would be ';naturally'; :)

do i HAVE to be out in the sun?

If i dont want dramatic change how long do i stay out in the sun?

and how much did it lighten your hair if youve tried it :)Should i lighten my hair with lemon juice?
First you have pretty dark hair. Why ruin it making it lighter?

When I was a teen I used lemon juice, but it didn't lighten my hair very fast and I had to do it several times. I also used peroxide and applied it with a cotton ball to do a strip of hair by my ear (that was in the 80's ha!), but it worked a lot faster.

One thing you need to worry about is if your hair has natural red tints. If it does, then it may turn orange instead of light brown or a sandy blonde. Do a test strip of hair to be sure the results are what you want.Should i lighten my hair with lemon juice?
Hi, my parents are the same way. If you want your hair to look lighter you should soak it in camomile tea for a few minutes and then rinse with water. This will bring out your natural highlights.
I like your hair dark I think it would look better how it is
omgg ur pretty:) and um.. sure you could lighten it:) It looks nice like that tho

How to Lighten Your Hair With Lemon Juice?

Okay, my daughter is eleven years old and she's hoping for a new 'look' when her school starts again. She wants her hair to be lighter, she has dark blonde hair but since she was a baby it was completely white. She wants it to at least be a little lighter. I told her that I was not letting her dye her hair because she is so young and it would damage her hair a lot. So I thought if she really wants to lighten her hair, she should go outside in the sun - but that hasn't exactly worked... So I told her there's another way to lighten your hair, using lemon juice. So we bought a lemon yesterday, since it's raining today, we're going to wait for a really sunny day and put it on her hair. Do you think it will make her hair blonder or is it a good idea? She really wants this so I can't say no because she's asking me everyday and I thought it wouldn't hurt to try. I've read articles on other people's experiments with lemon juice, they say it could go orange or red, I'm afraid that my daughter will be going to school with red/orange hair and being laughed at. So, do you think we should go for it (when the sun is shining)? If so, how do we do it? Do we just get lemon juice and put it on her hair or do we add something, please help! Thank you very much! How to Lighten Your Hair With Lemon Juice?
    Hi!

    okay, so you want her to lighten her hair without using chemicals that are in dyes like ';nice and easy'; Lemon juice may work, it's currently what I'm trying but its winter here so I haven't seen results yet;

    1. Boil some water and put it in a cup with chamomile tea bag or loose dried chamomile.(if you use loose chamomile don't forget to strain it)

    2. Let it cool down and put it in a spray bottle.

3.Squeeze at least 4-5 lemons(depending on size) until you have about a half cup of juice

4.Put it into the spray bottle.

5 If you want you can add Olive oil to make it more conditioning, or just add a bit of water.

    6.shake it all up!

    7. next time she goes out anywhere in the sun make sure she sprays it in her hair all over changing her hair-parting each time.(Don't forget the sunblock!)

    8. put the spray bottle in fridge so it keeps longer!

    9. Give your daughter a hydrating shampoo/conditioner this may dry her hair out a bit.

Since your daughters hair is dark blonde it shouldn't go orange, that should only happen if she was a brunette or red head. If for some reason she does get some red/orange tones in her hair she doesn't like you can always remove them with a shampoo that removes brassy tones.

OR else you can use Hydrogen peroxide. I dont know much about it so you should do a bit of research if you want to go that way.How to Lighten Your Hair With Lemon Juice?
I'm not sure, but I'd evenly disburse it throughout her hair. Also, fold it over, like rotate it, so the sun can get at it all. You can also get pure lemon juice, to save trying to squeeze it out of one lemon. It might make things a bit easier. I'd really be cautious of it going blotchy; make sure things are evened out.

At least it will make her lemony fresh!
Using Normal hair dye would be the better option, either way It will get damaged but its not major damage. It will become a little dry is all but you can fix that by using blonde exel hair shampoo.

Lemon Juice would make it blotchy and would be rather embarrassing.
Please do not use lemon juice. Citric in its natural state is very damaging to the hair. The best thing to do is just to let her get highlights. It does not have to be a drastic change, depending on the width or ';chunkiness'; of the highlights.

This way, you will get the results that you are hoping for. Either way is damaging, but at least highlights can be fixed if they are not what you are aiming for.

How to lighten hair with lemon......?

How are you supposed to use lemon juice to lighten your hair? I am a medium/light brunette and want to get it lighter or like some highlights. I've heard about using lemon juice but haven't tried it, does it work? Do you put it in your hair when your hair is wet or when it is dry?? Any help would be great! How to lighten hair with lemon......?
use a spray bottle filled w/ 1/4 lemon juice and the rest water. Spray in your hair, needs to be wet 1st otherwise it gets crunchy) and it needs sun exposure to actually work. Its just like sun in, gives you those natural surfer girl highlights. How to lighten hair with lemon......?
All you do is squeeze the lemon into a bowl and comb the juice through your hair. Then get out in the sun.

I've been a licensed cosmetologist for thirty years.

Hope this helps and good luck.
put a lot of lemon juice in your hair and go into the sun for a while. It will be kinda gross and crunchy but just wash it out after

Does lemon juice really help lighten hair?

does it really work?!?!?! how does it work? when do u put it in and how long does it take to work? i have brown hair with some natural blond highlights, and i want my hair to get lighter and have more highlights. will it work?Does lemon juice really help lighten hair?
ok. if you have blonde hair, it will probably lighten it more. if you have darker hair, then it wont work probably. but all you do is just squeeze the lemon, add some water, just a little, and stay in the sun. i tried that, but i have dark hair, it didnt work. this is what we do in turkey: we get a whole sunflower and boil it in water. the WHOLE sunflower. and then, take that water and spill it all over your hair. stay in the sun for a while. trust me it works. thats what i used and i have brown hair. you can even add some lemon in to make it work even more. GOOD LUCKI!!Does lemon juice really help lighten hair?
yes, i would do it all the time when i was younger because i was not allowed to dye my hair, i would take the bottle lemone juice and deluite it with water in a spray bottle, and then just pull out sections and soak them. after spending a day in the sun it looked like i had hi-lites, natural one. sun in works just as well too!
Definitely works. Put lemon juice in a spray bottle (with water- hairspray- serum-- something) and spray it on your hair before you go to the beach.... I always put a little bit of something into the bottle to help make my hair silky too- that way it lightens and its not frizzy and icky at the beach
lol! ya know whats funnny?? last night i put lemon juice in my hair to make it a lighter color! i didnt think it would work, but i gave it a try! and it worked! after you shampoo and condition then pur it in your hair. but only do 1/4 cup. then leave it in. and dont wash it out. then just dry your hair. and your hair will be lighter and prettyer! good luck!
    http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf431619.tip.h鈥?/a>

^^ this website will tell you all about that and people who have tried it.

It will also inform you on how to apply the lemon juice to your hair.

It actually depends what type of hair you have as to how light the lemon juice will make your hair. If you have really dried out hair it might not work as well compared to someone with smoother hair.

Good luck and I hope your hair comes out looking great!

BTW: dying hair w. juice is much healthier than using chemicals!! =) -Summerxx
if your spending a day in the sun....lemon will bring out blonde highlights...

for darker hair....cranberry juice will bring out the redder tones (fact, becuase Ive tried it) and I hear that strong tea will bring out browner tones.

word of warning...cranberry juice makes your hair hard and crunchy...like too much moose. and watch out for bees !! lol
yes! lemon juice works but!! it will dry out your hair. not to mention in the heat, it smells a little rotten. its not pretty. and your hair may turn to the orange side depending on how brown your hair is.
mmm...ya u just have to sit outside forever!! If i were you i would try sun-in. It works so good u just have to put it in your hair and go do stuff outside in the sun!! I do it and it works really good!
it works... but damaging because it is straight acid... need some sun to heat activate.... good luck because really i don't think it is a good idea... but people do it all the time it seems
acid increases porosity and the sun can lift the color. Do not expect miracles- it only has a slight effect. Apply and be patient!
Totally. I use a lemon - honey thing in my hair every morning, and it works great! It brings out natural highlights.
ya i did it once. i got a product from bath and body works.
lemon juice does help lighten hair and it also gets rid of dandruff
    try hydrogen peroxcide
If you stand in the sun for like hours, you'll go BLONDE
    Yes
It really does work because the acid in the lemon lightens up your hair. Not by much, but if does lighten some . Using Pantene Brunette, (if you have dark hair) gradually your hair will get much lighter then before.

    Lightening hair with lemon juice?

I have brown hair and it seems to keep getting darker and darker. I've heard lemon juice helps to lighten it just a little but I'm not sure the best way. Should I rinse it out immediately? Should I add water? How much water? I've heard sitting in the sun with it in my hair helps. Should I do that? Lightening hair with lemon juice?
You have to sit in the sun with it or it wont do anything at all.

    Lightening hair with lemon juice?
Dont do it it migt just ruin your hair
Be careful alot of times it turns darker hair green or orange!
    ever heard the saying

';you get what you pay for'

well a lemon is about 5 cents

so your getting a 5c bleach job

Got to a salon andget highlights

there are a few cheap crap highlight kits you can get at beauty supply shops and even the supermarket

I doubt any of them work any good though.

Bleaching and highlighting is 1 aspect of Hairdressing you shouldn't stuff with! Your hair will throw orange or yellow, which is natural

In a salon they can always apply a toner or do tinted tips

    good luck anyhoooo!

How much lemon juice & water should i mix for my hair?

i have dirty blonde hair, around my face its more blonde, and i have natural highlights. i've also never dyed nor highlighted my hair with any chemicals.

i wanted to know if all the lemon juice one lemon will give off and 1/2 cup of water mixed would be good for my hair color.

i know you spray it on your hair with a spray bottle %26amp; i know lemon juice lightens hair, not dyes it.

i just thought that if i mix more water with the lemon juice it would be better for my natural color? How much lemon juice %26amp; water should i mix for my hair?
ha ha... no, sorry, you got a few things mixed up. Don't do it... you will regret it. It is not going to work as you think.

  • I lightened my hair with lemon juice but don't like it?

I used lemon juice to lighten my hair but I want it to go back to it's normal semi-dark brown hair. How can I do this?I lightened my hair with lemon juice but don't like it?
wait about a week for your hair to ';heal';, then just get a dark brown hair color. don't buy anything that has the word ash in the color title. it will probably turn your hair green.

If you lighten your hair with lemon juice, will your hair change back to normal? If yes,how ling will it take?

I have black hair.will it still work?If you lighten your hair with lemon juice, will your hair change back to normal? If yes,how ling will it take?
When you use lemon juice to lighten your hair, it will grow out with the natural color, but your ends will stay lighter until it does grow out.If you lighten your hair with lemon juice, will your hair change back to normal? If yes,how ling will it take?
Your hair will NOT change back to normal unless it grows out; when you lighten hair with lemon juice, it's bleaching in a weak level. and you can't get the original color back from bleaching, since bleaching itself is the process of taking the dye out from the hair, not overcoating it like a hairdye does.

I actually don't recommend lemon juice to black hair, since there will be high possiblity that it will turn orange... why don't you just dye it?

    Lemon juice to lighten hair?

i've heard and read online about how lemon juice can lighten your hair. my hair is a dirty golden blonde color, but when i was little, it was literally platinum blonde. i'm really considering doing this with my hair, except when i brought it up with my mom, she said she would absolutely not recommend it because when she tried it in college, her hair literally turned orange. now, her hair is darker than mine, but back then .. it was about the same color. i'd be sooo horrified if that happened to me! i want a very subtle lightening of my hair. do you suggest trying it? how should i apply the lemon juice, or what should i mix it with? share personal experiences!

    here's my hair color now:

i always use lemon juice when i go to the beach!

for me, the lightening is never too noticeable. just a nice little reminder that i spent the day in the sun :)

i always put it in a spray bottle with a little bit of water. and just spray that in my hair throughout the day. it helps if your out in the sun(intensifies the lightening you'll get)

good luck!Lemon juice to lighten hair?
my hair is the same shade, only a bit lighter, and i think you should go for it!

i just did it today, but make sure to do it on a sunny day, because you need the sun to get it at it's lightest...

i'd also recommend peroxide, but i am still waiting for an answer to to my question:

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ar9khQYC7rVdaOphsIKZZ8vsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090619180002AAM1Uw5
Since your hair is already almost blond it will probably work better than it did for your mom.

You're supposed to spread lemon juice (I'm not sure if you're supposed to add something else) through your hair, lather it in like it's shampoo, and sit in the sun for about an hour for a week. The lemon juice on its own doesn't change the color of your hair, it's being in the sun that bleaches it. Lemon juice, however is damaging to you hair. It wouldn't be anything long term, but it temporarily dries out your hair. I recommend washing your hair immediately after and using a deep conditioner or leave-in conditioner.

I tried this a few years back, so I'm speaking from experience. My hair was dark brown and after two weeks of doing that, my hair was really light brown.

    Good Luck

does it really work to lighten your hair? i have dirty blonde hair that i would like to lighten this summer and lemon juice is said to have worked but has anyone tried it??

o and ill pick the 10 points for best answerLemon juice to lighten hair color???
Lemon juice is inconsistant, so if you want an all over color, I wouldn't use that. It does work, however. I prefered Sun-in, and it can go all over if you invest in enough of it to cover your whole head. You also don't have to go in the sun, a hairdryer will do, or just use it several times.

Be very careful with peroxide, that can damage your hair. And I wouldn't even touch bleach if I were you.Lemon juice to lighten hair color???
doesnt the lemon juice need sunlight to actually lighten?
When I was younger, my mother used to use a lime to use as hairspray so my hair wouldnt get all messy. After years of doing that my hair did lighten. She would squirt it right out of the lime into her hand and just blab it on my hair-i usuallly wore it in a ponytail back then. Another tecnique I used when I was older was using chamomile tea and lime juice, half and half of each into a spray bottle and used that as spray. Just make sure to get pass the lime juice and the chamomile tea thru a colander.
I dont think it will work..Just go to a salon and get done. and please give me the 10 points because im the first one~!
I would say no becaus if you put the lemon juice on it would probably work for a short time but sooner or later it will ware off and/or when you go to the shower the lemon juice will come off. and one last reason is your gonna smell like lemons! :-)
MY EX TRIED IT. IT ONLY HELPS ON HOT SUNNY DAYS..BEER WILL DO IT THOUGH. SHE USED IT POUR IT ON HER HAIR EVERYDAY..
i've done that and it never worked, however I have really dark brown hair. I also tried Sun-in which is the same thing and it doesnt work. If you truly want to be blond all over and not just highlights, use hydrogen peroxide as that will bleach your hair blonde
I think bleach will work better.

I hereby take no responsibility for people's stupidity.

    Thank yoiu
OK, my wife is a cosmetologist. And we have talked about this in the past. It will work to a certain extent. But the results are a complete guess. You would have to put quite a bit in your hair and then go out into direct sunlight for an extended period of time. Depending on the base color of your hair it could give you a really funky color instead of the blonde beauty your looking for. My recommendation is have it done professionally. It might be more expensive they can help you achieve what you're after.

There is a product called Sun In that I used back in highschool, it has a citrus base and it made me go more orange than blonde. It too required that you spend an amount of time in direct sunlight.

    Best of luck!
Lemon juice won't lighten your hair, it will dry it out though. You need a combination of color and hydrogen peroxide to lift color out of hair. Lemon juice is acidic and doesn't have lifting power. You could get hilights at a salon? That would look nice, pick a warm honey tone.
Lemon Juice will lighten your hair if you put it on and then sit in the sunlight. I recommend a product that you can get at any drug store i am not sure of the name of it ';sun in'; i think, works MUCH better than Lemon Juice, although you still need to put it in and then spend some time in the sun.

But you will see much better results and quicker as well!!!

    ** Remember ';SUN IN'; **
yes lemon juice does lighten your hair, my sister did it
No, I don't think that lemon juice can lighten your hair color. Sunlight can. Olive Oil can make your hair really soft. I don't know if it can lighten your hair color though. It might be able to.
Lemon juice can lighten your hair but it takes months for it to lighten it as much as you want it to. It can also dry out your hair because of its citric substance. I used peroixde once and it did lighten my hair and quick especially if you blow dry your hair right after you put it on. But this also can dry out your hair, but it didnt dry out mine. My hair was noticeably lighter within a matter of days.

Can I lighten my hair with lemon juice?

Summers coming up and I really want my hair to be blonder. My natural hair color is sort of a dirty blonde/light brown. I got blonde highlights all over in May, but I want to be even blonder. If I comb lemon juice through my hair and stay out in the sun, will it get blonder? I heard it can turn orange! How long would I stay out in the sun, and how hot should it be outside? Should I spray it on dry hair or wet hair? Can I lighten my hair with lemon juice?
Just stay outside often. When your outside spray a layer of lemon juice on your hair and the sun will be attracted to it.Then you will easily get more highlights. But you must be patient. Can I lighten my hair with lemon juice?
I think the citrus would dry out your hair.
ive heard of it before but i think u have to dilute it first. i think going to a salon will be a more certain way! good luck
ewww dont do that. if you want your hair to be blonder stay out in the sun more and it lightns your hair alot
I wouldn't risk it. The citrus acid from the lemon juice would probably make it dry and brittle and why would you take the risk of turning gorgeous dirty blond hair, orange? Try Sun-In, they sell it at most drug stores it works like magic.
if you want your hair more brighter blonde use a silver shampoo. some good ones are shimmer lights or clynol silver shampoo. you can get them at most beauty stores. they are dark purple because they have a purple toner added. purple toners eliminate brassiness in hair so it will leave you with brighter blonder hair. this will only work on your highlights though as these shampoos have no effect on brown hair, except washing it of course.

be careful when using these shampoos though because if left on too long can make your hair go white, grey or lilac. always read the bottle for time instructions.
Yes it will lighten your hair but what it is doing is damaging your hair. I have naturally really light hair so I don't need to worry about lightening it but my friend has the same color hair. She used lemon juice and it totally worked. It was really subtle but it brought out natural highlights. I don't know if it will turn hair orange... Just put it in after you shower and go along the day normally. Don't overdue the sun.

If I lighten my hair with lemon juice...?

If i spray my hair with freshly squeezed lemon juice, how long do i have to expose it to sun before it lightens a bit? (a shade or two)If I lighten my hair with lemon juice...?
It will lighten it slightly, but even 5 minutes will suck the life out of your hair. I bleach my hair using a highlight kit designed for dark brown hair, and get VERY blonde hair with way less damage than lemon juice.

I used lemon juice once a few years ago, sat in the sun for about 15 minutes, and it dried the heck out of my hair. It felt like straw.

Just wanted you to know before you do it :-)If I lighten my hair with lemon juice...?
O honey, lemon juice is a NO NO!!! I wouldnt reccomend using that. But I suppose your gonna do it anyways so about 1-2 hours for a full shade.
    an hour

    it really works

after you soak your hair then brush it to give it the look of natural highlights

    i would suggest

    doing just streaks

so the difference can be more noticeable

it takes 1 or 2 hours

once your hair is dry then it gets kinda hard like hairspray !!!

ps don't lighten your hair too much cause it made my hair get really puffy and dry after i washed and dryed it
Don't do it. Box dye your hair. Lemon Juice does not work well. It lightens hair, but trust me. It does gross stuff to your hair. Ask your mom to take you to Target and get a box of dye. MUCH easier.
Well, it doesn't work all the time...

But I hear two or more hours...

Lightening my hair with lemon juice? Is this completely accurate? how exactly should I come about doing it?

what does dilute mean? And I don't use any other products in my hair besides shampoo and conditioner.

If you still decide you want to use lemon juice in your hair, don鈥檛 use it straight without diluting it. Dilute one tablespoon of lemon juice in a gallon of water and use it daily as a rinse. Use it this way when you know you will get sun exposure and it will lighten your hair, but be aware of how it is affecting your hairs condition.Lightening my hair with lemon juice? Is this completely accurate? how exactly should I come about doing it?
Dilute means to put another substance in so your base isn't as strong. For example, you dilute the lemon juice with water.

I did this all the time when I was little. I'd mix lemon juice with water, put it in my hair, stay in the sun for half an hour, and ta-da! blonde highlights lol. =)

Doesn anyone lighten their hair with lemon juice?

I need to know how long to leave it on for before rinsing and how often can I do it should I do it on wet or dry hair thanks for the feedbackDoesn anyone lighten their hair with lemon juice?
Well usually when i lighten my hair, i use a combination of honey and milk. I mix these two in a bowl and then apply to my hair. Let it sit and dry for approximately 45 minutes. After this wash it out with a bit of warm water.Doesn anyone lighten their hair with lemon juice?
Lemon juice is very drying. Have you ever tried using a little Sun In spray?

It works great for(natural) blond hair or light brown.

A long hair expert said NOT to use Lemon juice on hair.

Sun in works great, and the little amount I use does NOT damage my hair. I have used it for 25 years and I have hair to my knees. e mail me if you have further questions: JJJLonghairphotopage@ zoomshare.com

Does lightening your hair with lemon juice really work?

i have brown hair,it looks black at first but up close its dark brown. i want to try soaking a piece of my hair in lemon juice then laying in the sun .. and just lighten that piece of my hair in the back.. im not sure how light the piece will get.. and if it'll work. can someone tell me if this works? and how good it'll work?Does lightening your hair with lemon juice really work?
you have to be in the sun for a few hours, and totally SOAK ur hair in lemon juice, but yah it works... i did it last summer. %26amp; i have drk hair 2!Does lightening your hair with lemon juice really work?
    it works...good..
yes. You need to go in the sun though for a whole day or ore. And it has to be strong sunlight.

I've done it before.. but mine goes ginger - which was a bit of a shock!
ive done it before but i have like a honey blonde. it worked good for me if you stay in the sun for about 2 hours. but if you have brown hair it wont really make a difference. like its not gonna turn it blonde. it just gives you natural lighter highlights. but not that much lighter.
lol same dude my hair looks black but its actually dark brown. i tried it once didnt work. it stings. and it makes your hair feel funny.
    That would fry your hair.

You should only spray it lightly on your hair and then sit out in the sun.

Yes it will fade it but it'll have a orangery tinge to it.
Lemon juice will minimally lighten your hair, but only if you go out in the sun. Lemons will lighten fine hair best. If your hair is a light brown shade or darker, lemons can turn your hair orange. Instead of lemons, it is best to use over-the-counter hair color. Hair color contains toners and conditioners that will consistently keep your color in check and hair in great condition.

You can try Loreal hair colors that are formulated for dark hair. It'll lighten it up.
yes it works, and good! i used it this summer, and was surprised with the results! if you dont want to use lemons, u can use ';Sun-in';. u use it just as u would lemon juice! trust me!

  • Help with lemon juice hair lightening/bleaching?

I was wondering if this really happened to work. I want to lighten my brown hair with some simple at home highlighting since I am only 12 and cannot get my hair dyed.

I heard that sitting out in the sun and applying lemon juice will help. Does it work? Or would I be better off using hydrogen peroxide? How badly will this damage my hair? If I condition afterward will I be better off?

Thanks!Help with lemon juice hair lightening/bleaching?
I did loads of research on this last year.

Hydrogen Peroxide is a very strong chemical that can permanently damage your hair and may cause it to fall out. Try and avoid using this!

Lemon juice is a great alternative! You can buy it in the bottle or freshly squeeze! I found mixing it with a couple of cups of brewed chemomile tea helped with the lightening of my hair alot!! I made this mixture (beware: it doesn't smell all too good) and before shampooing and conditioning my hair i poured it through my hair and then rinsing it and shampooing. Use a good conditioner after-wards and leave it in for a little while to help absorb all the goodness.

Using this treatment takes time, so be patient. I did this everyday for a few weeks and noticed great results! It does not have the same results as dying but still works very good. If your hair is dark this process may take a little while before you notice any huge results.

Also, this process may dry out your hair, so be sure to use a good treatment at-least once a week. Although some hair treaments/masks are not to cheap they work good. Or you could make your own. Banana hair masks are a great, in-expensive way to treat your hair! I like this one:

So are you up for the challange? Try and dedicate yourelf.

Hope this helped.Help with lemon juice hair lightening/bleaching?
Lemon and the sun really does work, just remember to not put the lemon juice on your scalp!

Also, don't use hydrogen peroxide, it'll damage your hair really bad.

Just stick to the lemon and sun :)

    Goodluck!
Please do not put hydrogen peroxide on your hair! It will most likely turn our orange.

Lemon juice can lighten your hair but not a lot. This isn't going to damage your hair at all.
