Yes, you can. It works fairly well for streaks and highlights. The active ingredient is the citric acid in the juice. So, in theory, you could use tomato juice, lime juice or orange juice. Or even grapefruit juice. Most people prefer lemons because it smells nice. Use filtered clear lemon juice, not the stuff you just squeezed out of a raw lemon. You want NO pulp or fibers in the juice as that will eventually rot like all fruits and vegetables eventually do. As another answer mentioned, mixing lemon juice and leave-in conditioner is a good idea. I had a live-in lady friend who did this. During the summer months, she would rub in a teaspoon to a tablespoon and then towel her hair out. Then, completely wash her hair a couple of hours later. The conditioner made it so her hair did not get brittle from the acidic content. The reason hair becomes brittle is that citric acid, most any acid actually, dissolves the natural oils out of your hair. Lack of natural oils makes your hair brittle and promotes split ends. Rather than rolling your own here, go to a professional and buy a product which does the same thing, has the same effect you are looking for, so you can get predictable results. put lemon juice on streaks of your hair and sit in the sun
you cant lighten your hair with lemons or lemon juice.

that's what you use when your hair is so light, you squeeze it in your hair before swimming, so that your hair doesn't turn green.

i would know because i have to do it.
take lemon juice and spray or put on your hair and go out in the sun if you have brown hair it might make it red but if you are blond it will give you lovely highlights
im sorry i've heard of that but i dont know how to do that...

but i do, do something on my hair

i make my bangs lighter using hydrogen peroxide...

just the one you would find at like rite aid for cuts

yeah just i just soak the section i want with that then

i let it dry then go for however long...then wash it out...

the longer u leave it it the lighter it will get...

it worked for me

:]
put lemon juice that you squeez into a cup a streaks or all over your hair then do something outside, sit i n the sun or take a walk just your hair must be in sun for like a hour
Put it in your hair and sit out in the sun. I have tried it b4 and it made no difference. I was better off without it. And it really dries ur hair out. Have a professional do it. I just had mine done and it looks gr8
Using lemon juice will work, but will also turn your hair to straw. Best way for an overall effect is to mix about 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and about the same amount of a leave-in conditioner into a spray bottle of water, and mist your hair as you're out in the sun. For streaks, mix the lemon juice with a creamy conditioner and place where you want before going in the sun.
put in your hair for about five minutes and wash out.

Ok, I did this a really long time ago....

Take the juice from several lemons and put it in a small cup/dish. Then take pieces of hair that you would like to lighten and saturate those pieces with the lemon juice (not dripping wet). Then hang out in the sun and check the progress after about an hour. If you have really dark hair, you may want to try something like Sun-In.

Either a real lemon or lemon juice (as long as it's just lemon) will work fine on blond hair. Get your hair wet, comb in lemon juice, then sit in the sun. The important thing is combing it in evenly. You can focus on just the front of your hair to create highlights or go for the whole thing.

I use to do this with my brown hair at the beach - it turned reddish orange which is probably not something most people would want - but I was a teen at the time :) and thought it was cool.
I had this done to me when I was like 8, so I don't remember exactly, but this is what I do remember.

Sit out in the Sun early in the morning, and have someone literally squeeze lemons over your heads and let the juice go down your hair, but be warned! It has a bleaching affect if done wrong or too much. And don't get it in your eyes. That stings. :)
The acidity of lemon juice , in combination with the sun , will lighten your hair slightly..

You can comb it into individual strands to add a highlighting effect , or comb it through your whole head of hair....

The highlighting effect is subtle, and should not be used on hair that is not already blondish...

Anything darker will result in a rust to greenish tint...

Looks like Crap..

Best to use products that are proffessionally made to lighten hair.
