LEMON JUICE? .....please answer-- i don't want to do anything stupid!?

is it true you can lighten your hair with lemon juice? how does it work?

%26amp; how much do u think it would lighten my hair? right now it's a medium brown shade w/ a strawberry blond tint in the sun %26amp; SOME natural blond highlights.

i'm willing to try it, i just don't want my hair to turn orange or anything.....is that a risk? how much lemon juice is TOO much?

thnx so much!

so :)

if you already have color in your hair I would not use lemon juice, especially is its strawberry tint, it could turn orange.

lemon juice should be use on natural hair only (not on colored)

If you want to use it on your natural hair in the future it takes a few time to do this.

since lemon juice is acid, it will brighten the color of your hair, but can also dry it out.

1.squize fresh lemon juice

2.part your hair exactly where you want the highlights and put the lemon juice with a brush on that part of the hair

3.go out in the sun and lay out, or go out, whatever, as long as your hair is out on the sun for abour 2 hrs (no more other wise you will dry ur hair)

4.depending on your hair color you might have to do it more than once

5.also i would use a moistourizing shampoo after to make sure ur hair stays on the healthy side :)

Lemon juice may not actually lighten your hair. Although some people have reported that it makes their hair lighter, it can dry out the strands severely, and you may end up with a bright orange color. I just go to the salon to get it highlighted, so that you can get the shade of highlights you want!
honestly, it wont really do anything. maybe a little bit of lightening, MAYBE. honestly, its bull. you wont have gorgeous blonde highlights from lemon juice.

you wont even be able to tell it did anything.
it doesnt really matter how much you put in. it just matters how long you stay out in the sun.
nah, dont do it. lemon juice is a weak acid....that doesnt lighten your hair.
It does not always work well. If anything, it will stay the same. No orange. But if you do it just spritz it all over damp hair and sit out in the sun. Good Luck.
i cant see how it would do anythink
It will lighten it a little. If you add a little backing soda to that it will help make it a little lighter. I would not be more than the sun would lighten it. In fact, it would be as much, unless you continue to do it. Give it a try.

If probably not lighten it as much as you would like. It would be easier to get a hair color or lightening kit and do it yourself.

Good luck and hope it comes out like you want it,...lol :)
it wont do any harm, but as mentioned earlier the acid in the juice is not great really and will dry it out a little. it is an old fashioned saying and people did use it years ago along with bicarbonate of soda, but i only think it would benefit someone with very white hair anyway its not strong enough to make any difference really.
It can lighten your hair a bit if you go out in the sun with it for a few hours; however, most people think because lemon juice is ';natural'; that it is safe. It can severely dry out and damage your hair. You may be better off using a product like Sun-in. Either way, deep condition your hair first.

If you're trying to REALLY lighten your hair overall a few shades, you will have to use a bleach to do that (please don't do it at home, though, go to a salon for this...and again, condition condition condition!)
It will lighten it a little bit only if you go out in the sun with lemon juice on your hair. The lemon juice could damage your hair by drying it out. The lemon juice will probably not give you the type of results that you want.
its supposed to work...i've tried it and it hasnt though.
