Lemon juice?

This is going to be a ridiculously stupid question..But I have heard that sitting in the sun with lemon juice on your hair is supposed to lighten it.

And if so, how long do you have to sit outside?

I really want to color my hair. But it would be more convient for me to do it naturally.

Does lemon juice really work?? Is it true? Haha.Lemon juice?
It works, but I wouldn't recommend it. It lightens it because the ascorbic and acidic acid in the lemon juice mixes with the sunlight and causes the pigment in your hair to become lighter, thus the result is lighter hair! I don't know how long it takes because I have never tried it, but it's really bad because the acid and sunlight mixture end up frying your hair and drying it out really badly. You might need to intensely moisturize your hair if you do that.Lemon juice?
Yes, but it is drying, so watch out!
Yes, this will work but over time. And when I say over time I mean ALLLLLL Summer. So if you want high-lights, get a dye job.
yeah, it works. so does peroxide. you'd be better off to just get high lights though.
Well yes but if you are a brunette it will make it look orangey, you have to already be somewhat blonde for it to look good.
It does work but it is very bad for your skin to sit in the sun. It WILL cause wrinkles, and very possibly give you skin cancer. If you spend time in the sun, make sure to protect your skin.
it does work, you will get that blonde beach boy looking color
Yes it does work. I have done for several years. Depends on the color of your depends on on how long to stay out in the sun really.
Lemon juice will lighten your hair, but there is no guarantee it will come out a color you like. Depending on your own hair, you may get pretty highlights or you may get some awful brassy looking stuff going on.
Lemon juice might work. The acid in the lemon and the heat of the sun might do it. For that matter you could use lime juice, orange juice or even vinegar.
You should do it right after you shower - add the lemon juice to your still wet hair, and sit out in the sun until it dries. I hope this works for you, cuz it did for me!
i tried just lemon juice(not sitting in the sun)and it got a little lighter but you meed to be careful because the acid in lemon can destroy your hair if you leave it on too long so be sure to wash it out. i also heard if you use chamomile tea and sit in the sun 4 hours twice a week it will get lighter.

It will work to brighten your hair .I am a blond and when I was a teenager thats what I did to make it lighter. It takes a while ,you can also rince your hair in lemon juice followed by clear water it makes hair shinny and cuts down on oily hair.
Yep it's true.

Who needs nasty bleach?

Try half hour out in the sun see how it goes remember 2 turn around often unless U want streaks!

After giving UR hair a break 4 a day or 2 %26amp; try 4 long next time.

Make sure U have Sunscreen on, huh?
i was surprised as well but it actually works! its a nice natural way to color your hair and sit in the sun the longer the better then go wash it out and it'll look nice natural and gorgerous good luck!!
I've seen a lot of ridiculous questions, and this is not one. Yes it will lighten your hair. The best way is to get a thing of lemon juice from the store and wet a paper towel with it, then wrap the paper towel around the peices of hair you want to lighten, just getting it damp, then do another section. Then go lay in the sun and read a book for awhile. You will probably have to do it a few times in the next week or so, but it definately works and is much better for your hair then chemicals :)
It might work. Or it might make you BALD.
Yes, lemon juice works but the change will not be drastic and it takes quite a long time. It's like having sun bleached hair. If you are blond, you will be blonder. If you have dark hair, it probably won't make much of a difference.

Beware of doing things yourself, like using peroxide. You run the risk that your hair will go a really unnatural yellow (kind of like an omelette).
I have seen it happen. Friends of mine at a YMCA camp put juice from a lemon (cut it in half, then rub it where you want it lightened, squeezing as much or as little as you see fit; more for lighter, less for subtle changes) in their hair, and went light blonde. I have used peroxide to put a blonde streak in my hair. That took several applications though to get it nearly white.
Yes, it does work. I used to do this all the time as a kid...now I just rely on a highlighting kit, haha. I would be careful if you decide to try it the first few times. And yes, it takes several times sitting in the sun awhile, so if you want convenience....lightening out of a bottle would be easier.

However, want really easy?? I use Suave for Blondes and a lot of my friends have been commenting on how light my hair is now. I haven't used a highlighter since last year and it looks great!
I don't know but you have to be very careful. If you get it on your skin in the sun your skin will get stained for a long time. Some make sure you don't get it on your face or body.
it works
Ya... It works but put in alot and lie in the sun for like 4 hours... just go to the beach for the day and put it in before hand... ps. it is just a lot easier to get highlights
lemon juice only works for blonde hair. For brown hair use tea bags. Brew them in hot water and let it cool them soak into your hair and leave on for 1hour.
yes it works but itll dry your hair out and make it dry and ruin it
