How to lighten hair ?

i have blond hair but it's getting darker into a ';dirty blond'; (it's a color people) almost almost very light brown. i have natural lighter highlights. i want to lighten up my hair. does ';sun in'; work and does it damage your hair? Can i lighten it up with lemon juice ? Does going out into the sun with like aluminum foil under it make it lighter ? does the sun itself brighten it , if so how long would i have to be in the sun?

please help :o (10 points :]]])How to lighten hair ?
Any alteration you do to your hair damages it; however, bleaching is the most damaging. Products like sun in are more powerful than lemon juice, but they will damage your hair more. Lemon juice works alright for me, and I have dark brown hair. It usually turns it a chocolaty color. So, if you already have light brown or near blonde hair, it should work well. This is the method I would suggest for your hair color.

Simply being in the sun would lighten your hair. Think of it as tanning. Whether you tan or burn, take the amount of time that takes to happen and then multiply it by two and that would be how long you would need to be in the sun (in my experience). Foil would speed the natural process somewhat, but it would be especially useful for lightening the underside of your hair.

No matter what you chose, be sure to condition and wash your hair well to keep it healthy =]How to lighten hair ?
Put lemon juice in your hair, then go out in the sun. Take out the lemon juice after an hour.

The aluminum foil probably works, because just going out in the sun makes your hair ligher, and aluminum foil attracts more sun.

I know because during the summer my hair is lighter than in the winter.

Also, there's tons of products out there that lighten your hair, just google them!
Sun in works, i don't know if its good for your hair.

I use the lemon juice, I get a empty spray bottle (they have them at the dollar store) And use the juice of one lemon and warm water. wet your hair down a few times a day, Or if you go to the beach, take it with you and respray through the day. The sun and lemon will make it blonder.

Don't forget the sunblock, spf 15 or higher.
If you don't want to lighten your hair a huge amount i'd use Sun-in. With Sun-in you can either sit out in the sun or heat it up with your hairdryer. I recommend heating it with the hairdryer if you want the same result all over, because the sun light only gets to the top layers of the hair. I would not recommend lemon juice, unless you enjoy bugs being attracted to your head, especially wasps. I do not know about aluminium foil though, sorry. But yes, the sun does lighten your hair on its own, but this takes time, days and days in the sun, which is not good for your skin.

Sun-in is worth a try, because its much cheaper than going to get highlights! But if you do not get your desired result using it, then you do always have the option of getting some highlights at the salon. Alsong as you condition your hair well, and use heat protecting products, these things do not cause huge amounts of damage to your hair like people seem to believe.
