Hair lightener besides sun in?

i have medium/dark brown hair i really want a lighter brown with not too much red. last summer i tried sun in and it worked but it made my hair more of a red brown than a light brown. i dont want to get it died or highlighted at a salon because its really expensive. i know that is the best option and i will consider it when im older. i just dont think my parents want to spend hundreds of dollars on my hair right now. so i wondered if you knew of any drugstore lighteners(NOT SUN IN PLEASE) that would not turn my hair orange/red! also if someone could explain how lemon juice lightens hair and how to do it or if it would turn my hair red. anything that lightens hair other than sun in please thanks for your time!Hair lightener besides sun in?

You cannot lighten hair without going through the red- orange-yellow-white phase, it doesnt go brown, light brown , blonde



That just isnt what happens (which you found out through using sun in, you will get red undertones)



the only way is to bleach your hair to yellow/white then dye brown over which you do not want to do, trust me. Or go to a salon where they can work their magic better than a box kit with no worries.



Lemon juice works like sun in but really only onblonde hair because it isnt strong enough to lighten dark brown hair at all!



Sorry, but you will have to consider bleach or the salon, maybe go to a training place where students are supervised but its half the price!
