How to use lemon juice in my hair?

I'm going to a formal dinner in a few weeks and wanted to lighten up my blonde hair. It gets darker in he winter and I heard you can use lemon juice in it to lighten it up.

Since its 13 degrees where I live I can't exactly sit outside in the sun with lemon juice in my hair, does anyone know if I can blow dry it and it will still lighten? Also, do I use the bottled lemon juice or freshly squeezed?

Thanks in advanced!!How to use lemon juice in my hair?
A lot of people want to go blonde but they are reluctant to use harsh chemicals, pay pricey professional colorist fees or try to figure out the right colors to buy at the pharmacy.

There is an old wives tale that putting lemon juice in your hair and spending a few hours out in the sun will cause your hair to lighten.

Sun exposure will lighten your hair, although very slowly. The acid in lemon juice can help it happen faster. It won't turn dark hair blonde, but it will lighten your hair slightly.

Put some lemon juice on your hair where you want it lighter and go out in the sun. If you have dark brown hair, it probably won't turn blonde but will give you red/auburn highlights. It seems to work best on people who have dirty blonde or light brown hair.

Use it on dirty hair, rather than freshly washed hair. That way the oils in your hair will protect it from the drying effects of lemon juice.

Squeeze the juice out of a few lemons, mix it with a third amount of water and put it in one of those cheap plastic spray bottles. Spray it all over your hair before going outside for all over lightening. How to use lemon juice in my hair?
lemon juice can also dry out your hair, causing a dull look and brittle ends. To avoid damaging your hair, try diluting the lemon juice. Mix one tablespoon of lemon juice with a gallon of water. Rinse your hair with the solution. You can repeat the process daily. The mixture will gradually lighten your hair. When your hair reaches the desired color, you can use the lemon mixture less frequently.

Some herbs can be used to naturally lighten blonde hair as well. Chamomile flowers work well to brighten hair and evenly add color to it. To make a chamomile rinse, steep half a cup of the flowers in one quart of boiling water for half an hour. Strain the mixture and let it cool. Wash and towel-dry your hair. Then pour the chamomile mixture over your hair. Catch the solution in a container and pour it over your head once more. Repeat this 10-20 times, depending on how light you want your hair. After the last rinse, leave the solution in your hair for at least fifteen minutes. Then rinse it out completely.
Actually, lemon juice isn't the only way to lighten up your hair. another easy-to-do process is by using vinegar after you shampoo.

use one cup of vinegar mixed with one cup of warm water, and pour it over your hair. let it set for about a minute, and rinse it out.

Fun fact: Did you know? Vinegar actually gets out everything that your shampoo and conditioner doesn't. it lightens your hair by getting all the excess dirt out, and its easier than lemon juice.

Have fun at your dinner!!

=)
I am in the same dilemma. I do not think it is heat that causes the hair to lighten. Maybe if you went to a tanning salon and 'tanned' with lemon juice in your hair. The lights may have the same affect as the sun hair as well as skin.
