How should someone with medium brown hair go about lightening it to a dark blonde colour, without a salon?

my friend told me to buy a lighter blonde hair dye, and use that so it would go a darker blonde seeing as i'm brunette now, i'm sure you know what i mean. would that work?



if not, feel free to suggest products that will help/work.



i've heard that sun-in and the lemon juice way turn hair ginger, and obviously, i'm aiming to avoid the whole ';brunette-goes-blonde-and-it-turns-ginge鈥?fiasco. so any tips on how to KEEP it blonde once it gets there? i would prefer for it not to turn ginger (no offence gingers, just not my colour of preference!).

I had darkish hair and used John Frieda Sheer Blonde Shampoo and conditioner. It works and lightens hair but only when light hits the hair. You could try dying it, I think that's what im going to do x
