How to highlight hair with lemon juice?

I have dyed my hair numerous times, but about 2 months or so ago i dyed it a neutral blonde that kind of came out with a red tint to it, but nothing drastic what so ever. I was wondering if it would be okay to use lemon juice on my hair just to lighten it up a bit, or am i risking it becoming red or orange. and if its ok to do then how would i go about doing so?

Mix it with water and put it in a spray bottle, when your hair is wet, spray it in your hair, then dry it with a hair dryer on the hot setting. If you are going to be outside that day that's even better, the sun brightens it better than a blow dryer.
